First Friday Fandom

First Friday Fandom is a Colorado Springs science fiction fan group. We meet on the (you guessed it) first Friday of every month to discuss science fiction, gossip, and eat brownies. First Friday Fandom meets at 8:00 pm at the home of Kent Bloom and Mary Morman:

Next Meeting Info

	The July meeting will be held on the second Friday, July 9th, 2010 at 8pm. So what's the big deal with Phil Foglio? Our "book" for July will be the graphic novel Girl Genius. We have two copies of the first omnibus (the first three issues) available on the First Friday shelf - and one copy of a special color edition. There will NOT be a Fourth of July picnic this year, but we might hold one Memorial Day weekend so keep checking for the latest info as it becomes available.
	The August meeting will be held on the second Friday, August 13th, 2010 at 8pm. For our book discussion we will honor Kage Baker, who died last winter of cancer, and read her "Company" novel The Empress of Mars. And no, Jack, Dejah Thoris does NOT make a guest appearance.
	The September meeting will be held on Friday, September 3rd, 2010 at 8pm. We will be reading Judith Tarr's fantasy novels published together as The Hound and the Falcon. Copies of the omnibus edition are available. We might be holding a Memorial Day picnic with or around this meeting so keep checking to see if there is a change to the information.
	The October meeting will be held on Friday, October 1st, 2010 at 8pm. Join us as we explore Steal Across the Sky by Nancy Kress.
	The November meeting will be held on Friday, November 3rd, 2010 at 8pm. Our retro SF novel will be Hal Clement's Ice World, originally published in 1953 in "Worlds of IF" magazine. That makes the story almost as old as Mem - has it held up as well?
	The December meeting will be held on the second Friday, December 10th, 2010 at 8pm. This meeting will feature both the book and the film of Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Is this the ultimate foundation of the Steampunk movement - let's watch and see.
